My years on the commission have seen a lot of changes. The revitalization of downtown and the completion of the Riverwalk have made Sanford a destination, bringing new businesses and new people.
Improvements in Goldsboro and Georgetown are continuing, and the mall has new life. A focus on better development standards and better city-wide maintenance are showing results. Improvements are funded for the marina, the golf course, and our water and sewer systems.
Do we still have opportunities for improvement – yes. As a firm believer in collaborative leadership, I look forward to working together to make Sanford an even better place to live, work and play.

Goldsboro has a Mainstreet USA designation and Georgetown is a National Register Historic District. Steps are being taken to protect the character of both neighborhoods.
We have a new focus on city-wide maintenance, we are solving storm water issues in all neighborhoods, and we are adding traffic calming where appropriate.
Renovations are funded for the marina and the golf course to take full advantage of these assets. The mall has new life and our industrial jobs base is growing.
An additional Fire Station is planned for the East Lake Mary Boulevard area and now all city fire units are equipped for advanced life support. Our police department is well trained, and well equipped.
Through the work of the community, Hopper Academy has been restored and is now used as an art and culture center. More renovations are planned for even greater use.
